MEMORIAL WEEKEND

The weather was acting a little too crazy for us to do a campout so instead we decided to go on day trips. Fri. we drove to Jump Creek. It is beautiful out there and had a fun little hike to get to the waterfall.(As long as you steered clear of the poison ivy! It was everywhere) This was Gavin's first outdoors trip since last summer and he was nervous on the way in. Walking carefully and hanging on to dads hand. On the way out it was a different story though. He was running ahead of us and jumping off of every big rock he could find. I am so glad to have adventurous kids that aren't pansies when it comes to the outdoors.

Saturday we headed up to cascade with the Mortensens for a little play time at the lake and then on to Goldfork hotsprings.
As soon as Gavin saw the docks he went running down them full speed. Gave me a heart attack. It wouldn't be a big deal except when he runs he looks behind at us and starts to veer off to the sides, so needless to say we were chasing after him the whole time. Gavin and Liv were in heaven because they love to throw rocks into the water and there were plenty of rocks to be thrown. I couldn't believe the rocks Gavin would pick up. He looked for the biggest ones every time.
The hotsprings was super crowded but I will definitely go back. What a fun place! The kids loved it and didn't want to leave even though they were practically falling asleep while they were swimming.

Monday we headed to Mountain Home with ALL the Mortensens(minus Randy) and went to the sand dunes. These pictures don't do justice to how steep this mountain of sand was that we climbed. I was impressed I got up it without being pushed from behind! This mountain seemed so big to us, but then as we were driving away we looked back and realized it was the smallest of all the dunes! Wayne rolled down the whole thing a couple of times and it was hilarious! If I could get a video on here I would post it. He was so sick after the second time. The kids had a blast even though we all had sand in all our crevices when we got home.
