SEW SAD!

Yep, we had our first stitches experience with the kids. Believe it or not it wasn't Gavin, the king of "running his hard head into stuff"
We were at the park for no more the 4 minutes when Liv slipped at the top of the playground and smacked her chin on a bar. She hit it just right and split her chin open. I was holding Emmy(niece) and Erika(sister) went over to see if she was ok. I figured she just hit hard, but then I saw Liv with her hand up to her chin and a freaked out look on her face. "it's bad" said Erika. "like stitches bad?" said I. Erika gave me the look. Oh great I thought. I was a little nervous for Erika to bring her over because I do not to well with gaping wounds. Rewind about 17 years......
Its a lovely sunny Sunday morning. i am pushing Jake)who is probably 3 ish) on the teeter-totter swing when he suddenly leans his head to the side and SMACK! right into a screw on the swingset pole. I rush him inside and my mom(who isn't fully dressed and with curlers in her hair) says and I quote "Oh my Lord he is going to need stitches!" I remember it because I thought because she was saying Lord she was swearing.
She has me sit with Jake and hold a a washcloth over his forehead while she gets dressed. My Curiosity gets the better of me and I lift up the cloth to take a peek. BIG MISTAKE. I see the gaping wound and things start to get fuzzy. I am feeling barfy, hot and sweaty. I manage to get out a feeble "mom" she looks at me and comes running over, shoves my head between my knees and says " take big breaths." I barely avoided passing out. Ever since then I have stayed away from such injuries. Now back to the present...
I must be the super mom, so I take Liv and sit down (just in case) on the side walk. I put my hand over the gaping wound(It really wasn't that big) and start breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. So far so good. Erika calls uncle Riley who races over to the park to get me and Liv. I risk a peek. Gross! But I am not passing out. Awesome. We get Liv to the ER and by now she is back to her old self bebopping around and talking to everyone.
She was super brave. Getting the shots and getting it numbed was horrible and she cried hard. But she stayed on the bed and once she was totally numbed things were good. 3 stitches later she is good as new. I think I was more traumatized than she was. Erika has some pictures of dad pulling the stitches out so those will come later. Hopefully this is the last time any of my kids ever have stitches! And to all you moms out their laughing right now at that last comment, a girl can hope right? :)

Its funny how we remember things because I totally remember being the one out the Jake on the teeter totter and thinking it was my fault. However, I do remember you almost fainting. I also remember you fainting on you first day of sixth grade while mom was curling your hair. I thought you died and was shocked to see you later that day at recess.
