CHARLESTON or MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF PICTURES!!!

We had soooo much fun in Charleston! We stayed in a little town just outside the big city called Mount Pleasant. Both Wayne and I said we could live there forever! Our hotel was 10 minutes from the beach and about 3 minutes from the USS Yorktown and the ferry to go to Fort Sumter.
We started off our trip by breaking down on the N.C/S.C. border. Luckily, our good friend Brook was visiting her family only a half hour away and was able to come to our rescue! (this is not the first time the Rasmussens have saved us!) We spent the night at Brook's mom's house and had a great time with Mia.(Gavin is in love!)By noon we were on the road. We made it to our hotel and immediately headed for the beach. If you ever go,Isle of the Palms is a fabulous beach. This was Liv and Gavin's first trip to the Ocean and they LOVED it! No hesitation. Gavin ran straight into the water and soaked his clothes. He didn't care. He is one with the ocean. Liv loved it until she got her first taste of the ocean. Classic. "uuggg, tooo salty!"
The next day we went into Charelston and went to the open markets and had lunch. Then it was back to the hotel for naps. Then we headed to the beach again. We decided to try a different beach out(Sullivan's Island), but didn't like it as much as Isle of the Palms. Gavin managed to get sand in his ears and every other hard to clean place you can imagine. He loved every minute of it.
The next day we went on a ferry ride to fort sumter. On the way to the isalnd we saw lot's of dolphins swimming in the bay. Liv loved it. Gavin loved watching the birds fly by and would squeal and yell "bubwee!" every time he saw one. He still calls birds bubwees and it is hilarious. Liv was a little bored at fort sumter, but not Gavin(hence all the pictures of him) he loved walking around and checking everything out. After that we went back to the hotel for naps and you guessed it, some more beach time. This was the perfect day. 75 degrees and no wind! (if you can imagine!) Both Wayne and I took turns going out for swims and Liv and Gavin both loved getting in the water with swimsuits as opposed to clothes.
Before heading home on Friday we went to the USS Yorktown. A WWII aircraft carrier. It was ginormous! I think it holds something like 90 planes! We were in that ship for at least 2 hours and Liv couldn't get enough. She thought it was so cool that she got to go way down in the bottom and way up to the top. Gavin also loved climbing up all the steep stairways.
Then we headed home. We had soooo much fun. If you are remotely close Charleston is a must!!!

Can you have enough photos of Liquid Wayne-o with his shirt off? I submit that you cannot! Looking good Hollywood.

I am one with the ocean too. Me and Gavin have so much in common. Also I think Mia and Gavin might need to go see the Bishop due to the above picture. Thank goodness they aren't 8 yet. In some cultures I think they would be officially married. Oh yeah, Livia is a rock star. You are welcome to the floor anytime at my mom's house. It was worth it just to hear Livia say that she wanted Wayne to carry her all the way back to Louisville.

P.S. Megan and Liv have the same swimsuit and Megan can't wait to play with her at the coast!

Looks like a fun trip! I don't think you kids could get any cuter :) I hear you're headed back to Boise in May? That will give us more chances to get together now that we will be on the same side of the country. Good luck you last couple of months!
