RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR HOTEL
WHY DIDN'T I HAVE MY FLASH ON?
KIM AND I LOVING THE EXCITMENT
OUR HOTEL
For those of you that don't know we were in Atlanta over the weekend. That's right, when the tornado hit. Here's how it all went down.
Us and the Courtrights decided to go out for dinner, so we all waked about a mile away from our hotel to go to this place we'd heard about. On the way there we saw lightening, but that's it. When we were about done eating I thought crap!, what if it starts raining when we are walking back to the hotel? We decided to hurry and pack up and get out of there. That's when is started to poor. I opened the door to the restaurant to see how bad it was and I about got knocked over by the wind. We decided to wait it out. It only took about 15 minutes and it had cleared up. We headed back to the hotel and could hear sirens the whole way, I thought, geeze, that ambulance is lost because it seemed like it was driving in circles. Little did we know it was because there were ambulances all over the city. The closer we got the hotel the crunching I was feeling under my feet. Now I know it was glass. Out in front of our hotel it was pandemonium. There was debre all over the roads, which were closed down, someone was being loaded into an ambulance and people were all over on their cell phones. I of course immediately started taking pictures. When we got back into the hotel I saw 2 guys that had been working out in the fitness center of the hotel, the both had bloody legs. When we tried to go up to our hotel room we got yelled at and were told to go up to the next floor and wait in the conference rooms. When we got up there people were going on the elevators so we thought, "might as well." By now it's like 11:00 and the kids were ready for bed. Then we got a phone call and were told that all the rooms were being evacuated to the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors and that the elevators had been turned off! BLAST! So we got the kids in their pj's grabbed some extra diapers and a few pillows and headed for the stair well. (we were on the 42nd floor) Needless to say I was sore the next day! We waited and waited and were finally able to go back up to our rooms about an hour and a half later. We were exhausted. We were very lucky that we weren't in the wrong place at the wrong time. The next morning we woke up to the sound of glass being swept up. We looked out our window and saw the curtains of the room above us flapping out the window! CRAZY! The dental convention we went to Atlanta for was cancelled so we just hung out all day and went to the World of coca cola museum. More pictures to be posted later!

What a crazy story!! I can't believe you were right in the middle of all that! I would have been so paranoid. I'm glad you were safe and not in your hotel when it the tornado hit!
Yikes! Glad you were safe!
What a story for posterity. Glad you are safe and have pictures to share. WOW!
Wow, I'm glad you guys were safe! Great pics!!
What a trip!!! It was fun, and something I'll remember forever. Finally my legs have recovered from walking down all those flights of stairs.
That is so crazy! I heard about the bad weather down there and didn't even know you guys were down there until Saturday at Brooks baby shower. Even though you missed the Dental Convention, it seems like an interesting experience...but thankfully you were both safe!
Gavin's nickname should be "tornado". He got one in Louisville when he was born and then another one. Wow! I'm glad you guys are all safe and sound.
