Spjutes don't play soccer. None of the 9 originals and hardly any of the 40 grandkids. Including me. So, imagine my shock and horror when I get a call telling me about the coaches meeting. "I'm not a coach!" I replied. The voice on the other line informed me I was indeed the assistant coach of Gavin's team and (GASP) the head coach of Liv's team. As I am explaining to the man on the phone that I never signed up and have never played soccer a day in my life I hear Wayne from the other room exclaim, "I signed up to coach"
Thank heavens for that. Some how he did it under my name.
So, this was the kids first year of soccer and they are both naturals. Gavin was on a team with 5 and 6 year olds ( he won't be 5 til Feb.) but you never would have known. Liv, when she decides to give 100%, is quite amazing. It was a fun season and they will be back at it in March with Wayne coaching again. These are pics from their first games. The only games I brought the camera to. Oh well.
This number 7 was by far the best on the team
Liv stole the ball from her, dribbled down and scored! I wish I had had it on video
Gavin was trying to smile but it was just too bright
his coach called him "bulldog"

Thank goodness Wayne had signed up! I'm sure your kids are naturals...both of you guys are so athletically talented. Looks like fun :)
Don't let any of the Spjutes know your kids are playing (gasp) soccer! They don't think it's a manly sport. :)
