Bennetts big arrival-
I normally don't tell the birth story, but since I didn't have an epidural everyone wants to know how it all went down. Also, Wayne wants me to remember to NEVER do that again. So, read on if you so choose.
My due date came and went. At my last doctors appt. I was only a 1. I went in at 7am the morning of the 30th. My doctor had a surgery scheduled at noon so we started a slow drip of pit hoping to time the delivery as soon as he was done. I also had to have the group strep anti-biotic so we didn't want it to go too fast because the first dose takes 4 hours to complete.
So Wayne and I lounged around. I read hunger games and he played with his new camera. It was all really quite boring. Finally the Klompster (Dr. Klomp) came in about noon to check me. He planned on breaking my water then. I was a 6 and he decided not to because he thought once he did it would go really fast. (He was right) So at noon I was a 6 and was mostly bored and hungry. They lowered my pit and again later stopped it completely. My contractions were getting worse but still weren't too bad. I thought to myself, I think I can do this! Right about now you may be asking yourselves why the heck was I not getting an epidural. I had it with the other 3 and each time still had very painful labors because it wore off, or didn't work for a long time or only worked on one side of my body. I thought it was a lot of money to spend for something that didn't work, plus, I hate being numb afterward so I thought I would try it. I wasn't set on not having it, but I was keeping an open mind.
Probably around 1:30 or so my contractions were starting to really bug me. They were coming every 2 minutes or less. Wayne was starting to get nervous and told me to get something. We had talked about doing a block or some meds through the IV. I wasn't convinced. By about 2:00 I had a couple really painful contractions and Wayne was almost ordering me to get something. I didn't know when my doctor would be out of surgery. I could handle the pain for another half hour but not for 2. I said ok, lets get something. A couple minutes later my doctor walked in to check me and break my water. I HATE getting checked. It is worse than the contractions. Anyway, I was a nine and he broke my water and their was no going back. As soon as he broke my water things got crazy. There was a lot of yelling and screaming on my part and at one point I looked at Wayne and said, "I can't do this" I really thought I might die. Poor Wayne didn't know what to do with himself. He was not prepared for how it would be. He couldn't say anything to comfort me because he was afraid if he did he would start bawling. At one point I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes and I almost lost it. My eyes were closed for the rest of the time. Luckily I had an AMAZING nurse who got me through it. It is a crazy sensation literally feeling something that is way to big to come out of you......come out of you.
At 2:35, 25 minutes after my water broke, Mr. Bennett arrived. HALLELUJAH it was over. Except then.....prepare yourself, this last part is gross, and if you are faint of heart skip to the pictures.
As the Klompster was trying to deliver the placenta(SICK!) it tore and he got a little nervous and couldn't get the rest. He literally had to reach his arm in, almost up to his elbow to get it out. I could feel his hand scraping around on the inside of me! TORTURE! Then it was finally all over and I could look at my sweet boy. The nice thing about not having an epidural is that I was up and around so fast. And Bennett was wide awake for about 5 hours. Happy and content. The kids came down and they were all in love. Even Gage who I was a little worried about, is so protective of him. I went home 24 hours later and was feeling great! And that is how it all went down. Would I do it again you ask? Tough to say. It was all good up until that last 25 minutes. It may just have to be a game time decision. That is, if we have anymore. Wayne says we will.......
Chilling on the ball, so thrilled to be having my picture taken
I look like death
snuggled up at home

Wahoo!! I did #3 without an epidural also and I actually think I prefer that way since there isn't anything to recover from afterwards. I had no idea the antibiotics take 4 hours for the first round! I didn't get any with Eva, even though I needed them. She turned out find in the end though. Glad Bennett made his arrival safely! Now that you've done it without the epidural once, if you did it again you would at least know what to expect, so I think it would make it a little easier.
Wahoo! You are awesome and crazy! I've come way too close to not getting an epidural and for months after I would break into a sweat just remembering the pain. But I'm proud of you! Love the name, love the story, love you guys!
