That's right folks, if you didn't know, today was the Kentucky Derby and I am soooo sad not to be in Kentucky. So, I decided to bring the Kentucky Derby to Boise! We had derby pie, Kentucky hot browns and mint julips of course! We also had cookies shaped like horses, hats and the state of Kentucky. We sang, "My Old Kentucky Home" and had a grand 'ole time. Everyone wore hats and Grandpa Mortensen even had on a bow tie! We had so much fun and I can't wait to do it again next year! Hopefully we will be in a bigger house so I can throw and even bigger party!

Showing off our hats

Getting the KY hot browns ready

I think grandma Mortensen looked like a millionaire's wife

You can't really see it, but there is a horse glued to the top of her hat!

Kara looked fantastic!

The Waite family. Kayene's hat and hair combo were hilarious! Johnny said it was a driving hazard on the drive over

Liv my Beauty queen whose teeth are looking fantastic after Wayne had to fix them again. She tied with Kaylene(feather hat) for the best hat contest that we had.

Oh, how I love parties! What a FANTASTIC way to bring Kentucky home! I love the hats...my mom and I were just talking about Derby weekend...she had a roomy in college who went home from school every year for the derby...I do love the gorgeous hats! How do you choose a winner with hats like those? SO FUN!!!
